What are Hornaments products made from?
Every Hornaments piece is made from genuine, naturally shed antler — deer, elk, and moose that drop their antlers each year. The antler is collected after it falls, never taken from a living animal, then cleaned and hand-finished in Canada. Because each antler is unique, no two pieces are exactly alike in colour, grain, or shape.
Is this real antler, or resin?
Real antler — always. Many "antler-style" products on the market are moulded from resin or plastic. Ours have the genuine weight, texture, grain, and natural variation of real antler.
Who makes Hornaments pieces?
Each piece is cut and finished by hand by Long John ("LJ"), working from a small ranch on the bank of the Bow River, Canada. Every item carries his hand-carved "LJ" signature.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders are made to order and hand-finished, so please allow 1 to 2 business days for your piece to be prepared before it ships. Shipping time after that depends on your location and the option chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking once your order is on its way.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship across Canada, to the United States, and internationally. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your destination. International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by your country — these are the responsibility of the recipient. Some countries restrict the import of animal-derived products (including antler); please check your local import rules before ordering.
Can I get a custom engraving?
On products that offer it, yes — you'll see an engraving field on the product page where you can enter your text. Because engraved pieces are made specifically for you, they can't be returned or exchanged (see our Return Policy).
Are antler dog chews safe for my dog?
Antler is a hard, long-lasting natural chew with no additives or preservatives. As with any chew, always supervise your dog, choose a size suited to them, and take the chew away once it wears down to a piece small enough to swallow. Antler chews are not suitable for puppies or dogs with dental concerns — if you're unsure, check with your veterinarian first.
How do I care for my antler piece?
Antler is durable and low-maintenance. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth to clean. Keep decorative pieces out of prolonged direct sunlight and moisture to preserve their natural colour. For dog chews, rinse and air-dry between sessions.
Why does my piece look slightly different from the photo?
Because every piece is made from a unique piece of naturally shed antler and finished by hand, slight variations in colour, grain, size, and shape are normal — and part of what makes each one one-of-a-kind. These natural variations are not considered defects.
What's your return policy?
Non-custom items can be returned within 30 days in unused, original condition. Custom engraved and made-to-order pieces are final sale. Full details on our Return & Refund Policy page.
